Greg served as the first Vice Chair of the Asphalt Institute Foundation (AIF) and was the first chair of the AIF Research Committee, serving from 2015-2017. He is a visionary leader who was instrumental in the success of the inaugural STAR Symposium in May 2017 – from its inception, through planning, and on to execution. Greg was passionate about the STAR Symposium including a small, diverse group of individuals who could brainstorm and learn from each other in an informal setting. The culmination of his vision was the inaugural group of attendees – “the STAR 100” – whom Greg referred to collectively as the “Google of Asphalt”. It was the commitment to diversity and open discussion concept that was crucial to the brainstorming that followed, the initial research needs statement, and the first AIF-awarded research project. Greg’s commitment to the future of the industry and his passion for improving the industry is contagious.
