It’s #GivingTuesday! Meet Pablo Vestena, graduate research assistant at North Carolina State University in the Department of Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering. Pablo and was selected by Asphalt Materials, Inc. to participate in the Asphalt Institute Foundation Internship Program this past summer.
“During my undergraduate studies, master’s program, and two years of my Ph.D., I have focused on asphalt materials, which has provided me several opportunities to engage with academia. While exploring knowledge gaps to advance cutting-edge research is rewarding, it can sometimes create a distance from the practical needs of the paving industry,” he said. Pablo also shared, “My summer experience was greatly rewarding, providing me with valuable insights to industry dynamics and real-world questions. The foundation’s focus on innovation and collaboration generates a welcoming environment, which has further motivated me to pursue my studies in the asphalt materials field.”
